Ministry Of Labour Update On Glencore Fatality; 2 Inspectors Looking Into Incident

The Ministry of Labour has two inspectors looking into Tuesday’s fatality at Glencore’s Nickel Rim South Mine in Sudbury.

An engineer and an electrical-mechanical Inspector are investigating the workplace accident that claimed the life of one male employee.

The worker was struck with a piece of equipment underground late Tuesday morning.

Greater Sudbury Police have released the scene to the MOL, but the victim’s identity still has not been released.

Glencore has been given one order from the Ministry, to not disturb the scene.

For now, the mining company has cancelled all shifts.

The Ministry has up to one year to complete its probe into the incident.
