Diversity and Pride are the backbone of a week long celebration of the LGBTTIQQ2SA community.

Today marked the launch of the 19th annual Fierte Sudbury Pride Week and many events are planned with the annual Pride March capping it all off on Saturday.

Aedan-Daniel Charest is part of the transgender community and says his journey has been a smooth one thanks to Sudbury and the people within it.

Chair of Fierte Sudbury Pride, Katherine Smith says its something the community is starting to get behind in large numbers.

Smith says this week is extremely important with recent events and it’s important to recognize those, but at the same times it’s important to celebrate how far we’ve come.
