Now that the Canadian government has promised to accept 25,000 Syrian refugees by the end of February with 10,000 expected by the end of the year…Greater Sudbury is getting it’s plan in place.

Two Syrian families…one a family of six, the other a family of nine will be settling in the area.

Ward 11 Councillor Lynn Reynolds, who sits on the board for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, says she expects this to just be the beginning of the support coming from the community.

Laurentian University will also be accepting two Syrian students who will start their studies next September.
