George McEncroe, a single mom to four teenage kids came up with a brilliant business idea after getting a divorce from her husband.

“Mum’s Taxi” is a taxi service “run by women, exclusively for women and their children”. (DailyMail)

Originally, she wanted to be an Uber driver but the idea of driving four big, potentially intoxicated and unpredictable men around late at night and working in a mainly male dominated industry didn’t appeal to her. The idea didn’t feel safe.

“Mum’s Taxi” would offer safe cab service to women of all ages, and boys up until the age of 15

Here’s how it would work: parents can register their child’s phone number into the app, so when the child requests a taxi, the app immediately asks for parental approval with a GPS tracker that tells parents exactly where their kid is when requesting a taxi ride.

The goal is to give these potential female employees flexible working hours, so they can still make time for family.

The motivated, entrepreneurial mom is hoping to have the app ready by October.

Bad news? Only rolling out in Australia.

Is this something you would like to see here in Sudbury?
