TalkToday

The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League is taking steps to make sure the mental health of it’s players is addressed.

The league along with the Canadian Mental Health Association have launched “Talk Today”, one of the most comprehensive mental heath programs for amateur sports in Canada.

N-O-J-H-L Commissioner Robert Mazzuca says the goal is to identify issues and deal with them head on.

He says mental health should no longer be a subject that is taboo around the rink.

The Rayside Balfour Canadians, Espanola Express and the French River Rapids will deal with the Sudbury-Manitoulin branch of the C-M-H-A.

The other teams in the N-O-J-H-L are working C-M-H-A branches in Sault Ste. Marie, Cochrane-Timiskaming and Muskoka-Parry Sound.
