Katy Perry dropped her new single “Chained to the Rhythm” alongside a hamster-centric lyric video early Friday morning. Rolling Stone reports that the track was written by Perry and Sia, along with her “I Kissed A Girl” and “Roar” collaborator Max Martin, and describes the song as “buoyant synth-pop.” “Chained to the Rhythm” also features the reggae sounds of Bob Marley’s grandson Skip. At one point, Perry sings, “Living our lives through a lens/Trapped in our white picket fence/Like ornaments/So comfortable, we live in a bubble.” Earlier this week, Perry scattered musical disco balls at various locations around the globe so that listeners with headphones could plug into and hear the song.

Us Weekly and The Talk are reporting that Amal and George Clooney are expecting twins this June. These will be the first children for each spouse; George, 55, and Amal, 39, got married in 2014.
Clooney’s buddy Matt Damon says: “I’ve never had twins. He has it coming. I had them one at a time you know and that was plenty. Look, the two of them, they’re just great people and they’re going to be great parents. It’s going to be a huge challenge, I mean, one baby cries, wakes the other up. It’s going to be on in that household,” he added, “[but] he doesn’t sleep a lot anyway. He’ll be alright. I’m serious, he’s got a hell of a work ethic.”

American Idol may be returning to primetime television. According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC is in talks to bring back the reality singing competition. While the rumors are still fresh, Idol creator Simon Fuller has been open about the fact that he’d like to reboot the show. “There are loads of ideas being shared, and I’m deep in thought about how we can evolve Idol,” he told the outlet last year after Idol’s series finale. “We debuted at the very beginning of the digital world. So the next generation of Idol will be a lot more interactive, a lot more immersive.” The original version of American Idol ran for 15 seasons on FOX.
