Science North has adopted a new young beaver who will make the science centre home.

The beaver was born on June 9, 2016 at a zoo in Quebec and will have a special habitat behind the scenes, meeting with visitors once daily.

Their current beaver, Drifter, in now in his senior years but will continue to Science North home.

The new male beaver does not have a name but a contest is going on right now at bluecoatblog.ca where people can vote on three Innu names to pay respect to the traditional territory he comes from.
