A 39 year old Sudbury woman has been charged with Careless Driving in connection with a fatal crash that left one person dead and sent a second to hospital.

It happened on January 18th on Municipal Road 80 after a southbound vehicle crossed the centre line and hit a vehicle going north near Tracks and Wheels.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, 41-year old Gary O’Bumsawin, was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the investigation, collision investigators found that the brakes of the charged driver’s vehicle were faulty and as a result, she has also been charged with operating a vehicle with defective brakes.

Although determined not to have been a contributing factor in the collision, the Highway Traffic Act requires that braking systems be maintained in good working order at all times.
