After a five-week closure for renovations Science North’s IMAX Theatre is almost set to re-open.

IMAX’s Chief Quality Officer David Keighley flew up from Los Angeles to give a sneak preview of the new movie experience that features laser technology and six new booming speakers.

Keighley says it will open the door to more Hollywood films and documentaries for the theatre.

Science North CEO, Guy Labine says they will now be able to offer more than 30 presentations per year where as before they were only able to bring in six.

IMAX has more than one thousand theatres world-wide and Sudbury’s new laser theatre is just the 20th of it’s kind in the world and third in Canada.

IMAX at Science North officially re-opens on February 6th with four films and coming in the near future is Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

On February 6th and 7th members of the public are invited in for a free screening every half hour from 11 to 4 pm, of the IMAX sizzle reel, which will showcase the new technology.
