The Sudbury Lady Hurricanes are among 25 finalists in the nationwide Rogers Hometown Hockey Cheer Like Never Before competition.

The local girls hockey team performed the cheer when Hometown Hockey made its stop in Sudbury in early December, and they won best cheer in the region.

Karla Allen, is a parent of one of the players, and came up with the cheer originally.

She says the team is thrilled with all that has happened to them already, like performing in front of Sudbury City Council, and at a Sudbury Wolves’ home game.

Voting is now open online at www.hometownhockey.com/cheer.

Voting runs until midnight April 4th, with the winning team announced on the Hometown Hockey broadcast the next day.

The winning team will perform their cheer at an NHL game.

They would also watch the morning skate and get to go into an NHL dressing room.

If the Hurricanes win they’d go to the Air Canada Centre April 11th for the game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens.
