It’s called the #KylieJennerChallenge, which encourages individuals to emulate the 17-year-old reality star’s plump pout by sucking air through a cup or shot glass until the air vacuum causes their lips to swell. They then share their results on Instagram and Twitter.
“The new trend in trying to DIY lip plumping is quite concerning. Not only can significant pain, swelling, and bruising result from these suction techniques, but there is potential risk for scarring and permanent disfigurement with repeated attempts,” explains Dr. Dendy Engelman, a board-certified dermatological surgeon.
