Elevate

By Angela Gemmill

As we serve humbly we can elevate one another and our city together.

That’s what Elevate Sudbury 2015 is all about.

Volunteers from 45 local churches and the 12 Community Action Networks (CANs) will spend time this week on projects within various neighbourhoods.

Coordinator & Pastor of Valleyview Community Church, Jason Tripp, invites everyone to take part in the various projects going on all week.

He says the 14 projects range from community gardens, to youth centres, to roadside clean-ups, or low-income housing developments.

The Elevate event may be a church-led initiative, but Tripp says it’s meant to benefit the entire community.

He says local churches want to be known for simply loving and serving, with no-strings attached.

Elevate Sudbury wraps up with a large celebration set for 6pm Sunday (May 24) at Glad Tidings auditorium.

During that time, Mayor Brian Bigger will give the Proclamation for Elevate week in Greater Sudbury.

Tripp says this celebration is open to everyone, regardless of their faith.

This is the second year for the Elevate initiative in Sudbury.

Last year 12 community projects benefited and Tripp says there was such a great response from the community they decided to continue it again this year.
