For the last 10 years the Samaritan Centre in Sudbury has held the Coldest Night of the Year event and this year nothing will stop them from raising the essential funds and awareness for homelessness in our community.

Every day people are at risk of going with out a meal, proper clothing or a place to call home…and its Northern Ontario its cold out there.

Executive Director of the Samaratan Centre, Lisa Long says the past year has made it even worse.

Long says this year it has been tough to fundraise so an event like this goes a long way for supporting their needs.

They have a fundraising goal of surpassing last years total.

The Samaritan Centre is a client-centered, multi-agency facility that holds space for care, community and services for Sudbury’s most vulnerable citizens.

It works with individuals facing multiple social barriers including homelessness, food insecurity, poverty, mental health and addictions in downtown Sudbury.

The walk this year is virtual so anyone can take part anywhere in the city or in other communities if you’d like to walk with people within your bubble.
