Rainbow DIstrict School Board announced Sunday that a student at Lasalle Secondary School has tested positive for COVID-19.

Lasalle remains open for in-person learning at this time.

The student who tested positive is currently self-isolating.

Two classes have been asked to self-isolate – one until Nov. 18, and another until Nov. 19. The affected families have been notified by the Rainbow District School Board. Public Health Sudbury & Districts will also directly contact all families of students and all school personnel who have been identified as close contacts.

Late last month, a COVID-19 outbreak was declared at Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School after three students tested positive.

There were eight new cases of COVID-19 in Greater Sudbury yesterday…and there have been at least three new cases each day since last Tuesday.

Of the eight new cases…six are a contact of a known case while two are still under investigation.

There was 20 cases announced on Friday and five on Saturday…there are now 50 active cases.

The spike in cases is happening all across the province there were over 11 hundred new cases in Ontario on Saturday and 13 hundred on Sunday
