Reports of the Queen’s death are greatly exagerated… Yesesterday, a BBC reporter sent out a tweet announcing that Queen Elizabeth had died. The tweet was quickly deleted, but was followed by one saying the Queen was being treated at a hospital. That much turned out to be half-true: Coincidentally, the Queen just went in for a routine annual checkup.The BBC quickly said the Tweet was part of an “obituary rehearsal,” a common newsroom practice wherein reporters simulate how they’d mobilize coverage after the death of a famous person.
Let’s just say the Queen was not amused.
