No More Coins At One Department Store
is in the middle of a giant coin shortage right now. Say thanks to coronavirus which caused a shutdown of the U.S. Mint – thus the shortage. As a result, if you’re a Kroger shopper – no more change for you. Kroger spokesperson Erin Rofles confirmed the grocer will no longer return coin change to customers. Instead, the remainders from cash transactions will be applied to customers’ loyalty cards and automatically used on their next purchase. Customers are also encouraged to ‘Round Up’ to support the company’s Zero Hunger/Zero Waster Foundation. A Federal Reserve news release from June 11 explains the pandemic has “significantly disrupted the supply chain and normal circulation patterns for U.S. coin.” Fed Chair Jerome H. Powell explained, “The places where you go to give your coins, and get credit at the store and get cash – you know, folding money – those have not been working. Stores have been closed. So the whole system has kind of, had come to a stop 

 

Teen Gets Stuck While Trying to Film TikTok Video
14-year-old Layani Maclean of Oxfordshire, England, had to be rescued by firefighters after she got stuck in a baby swing while trying to film a TikTok video. Maclean climbed into the swing seat and couldn’t get out, even with the help of her mom Charlie Maclean, who then had to call for help. Firefighters removed the swing from its hinges, and got the teen out with the help of some liquid soap. Her mom said she planned to bake a cake to thank the firefighters. A video of the rescue was also posted on YouTube.
