NOHFC Provides Money For Expansion At Carpenters Training Centre

The Carpenters Training Centre in Azilda is growing bigger, mainly due to funding from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.

The province is investing $388,000 into the 3,500-square foot addition, which will be used for a drywall, acoustic and lathing apprenticeship program.

There will also be a new carpenter apprenticeship program.

The Carpenters and Joiners Union Local 2486, which runs the centre says the expansion is needed to keep up with the demand for more workers in skilled trades.

The facility on Marier Street was only built six years ago and offers over 50 training courses for various trades.
