29 year old Kayla Jones from Texas shared her incredible story with Love What Matters.

“At the age of 17 I had a partial hysterectomy. Doctors found a tumor that was believed to be cancerous taking over my uterus. My uterus was removed and the biopsy came back benign. My ovaries did not have to be removed so I am still able to have a child biologically mine, but I am unable to carry the child myself. That’s why my husband and I had to use a surrogate.

My husband and I married in 2012 and my mother-in-law always joked about being our surrogate. After a couple of our surrogate options did not work out, we started to take my mother-in-law more seriously.

At first I thought the doctors may think we were crazy, but as I researched I found other grandmothers who had been surrogates. After much testing, my mother-in-law was cleared to carry our baby!

We started the IVF process in October of 2016 and had our first embryo transfer in March 2017, which failed. We were devastated but decided to give it one more try. In May 2017 we found out we were pregnant!

The day we found out was the second best day of my life (the first best day was the day Kross was born!). Patty left a urine in a specimen cup on her porch before she left for work. I picked it up and my husband and I tested at home. I can not describe the feeling of seeing two pink lines. I just knew it was not going to work.

We decided we wanted to surprise Patty. We told her we had not tested yet and drove to her work. We laid that test down in front of her and the tears started flowing.

Fast forward 7 months and my sweet baby boy, Kross Allen Jones, is in my arms.

He was delivered by C-section Dec. 30, 2017. I am so amazed at this sweet miracle. Having him via surrogacy was not always easy, and definitely not easy for Patty, but having him here makes all the hard days worth it.”

50 year old grandmother and surrogate Patty Resecker, told Love What Matters:

“I’ve recently had the privilege of doing one of the most rewarding things: to carry my own grandchild for my son and daughter-in-law. This is something that has blessed not only me and my family, but also Kayla’s family. A child is a lifetime commitment and I knew there weren’t two more deserving people than them. To see them with Kross and see the parents they’re already becoming thrills my soul.”
