A Pot Of Gold At The End Of The Runway

Can you imagine waiting at the Sudbury airport for a friend or loved one to arrive when this happens.  A plane loaded with $ 368 million dollars in gold, diamonds and platinum loses it’s cargo door and a whole bunch of it falls out onto the runway. That’s exactly what happened but it wasn’t at our airport..it was in Russia in the far east city of Yakutsk where authorities say at least three tons of gold was scattered on the tarmac.

Authorities recovered 172 gold bars weighing 3.4 tons, according to local news sources. No one was hurt in the incident, which is thought to have been caused by damaged door handle.
