According to The New York Times, the highly anticipated Barbie movie will not be showing in Vietnam. The country has banned the film due to a scene that features the so-called “nine-dash line” on a map, which depicts the majority of territory in the South China Sea as belonging to China. State newspaper Vietnam Plus writes that featuring the line in the movie “distorts the truth, violates the law in general and violates the sovereignty of Vietnamese territory in particular.”
