YWCA Sudbury is dedicated to support women and their families in the community by providing emergency shelter for women escaping violence, education, advocacy and community collaboration. YWCA focusses on ending violence against women and letting women know that there are services and supports for them and they can call the crisis line every time.

The YWCA also offers family court support programs to women who are separating from abusive partners by navigating through the court process and necessary forms to be filled out.

Vision:

  • A safe, equitable, and inclusive community where women and their families thrive.

Mission:

  • To empower women and their families to reach their full potential in body, mind and spirit, through action, advocacy, community collaboration and education.

Impact of COVID-19:

COVID-19 has changed the way that services are delivered.

  • Women have to isolate before they can go into community living (or require a negative COVID test),
  • Reduction of women in a room (only allowing 1 women per room, instead of 2-3)
  • If all rooms are full, women have to look at alternative housing.
  • Organizing meals have changed from 2 sittings instead of 1

COVID-19 has contributed to unsafe situations for a lot of women.

YWCA Sudburry offers a variety of  programs and services, including:
