A local band will open the 47th edition of Northern Lights Festival Boreal.

Pop Mach!ne stopped by out studio this week to talk about the festival, jammin’ with family, where they want to be in five years and what they wear on stage.

Cassandra Walli, identical twin sisters Emily and Candice Duval and Keegan Beaulieu were among the original members of the band set up by music teacher Cory Ross.

They later added Cassandra’s older brother Chris Walli.

The members range in age from 16-21.

Pop Mach!ne started in 2015 as a Grade 7 and 8 Lively District Secondary School band competing in an annual showcase of Rainbow District School Board elementary school rock bands.

Since then they have played more than 90 shows including Rockin’ the Rock Battle of the Bands in Manitoulin Island where they had the chance to share the stage with famous bands such as Prism, Helix and Harlequin.

Pop Mach!ne launched their self-titled debut album on June 28th.

It will be available for purchase at Sunrise Records in Greater Sudbury.

Pop Mach!ne plays Thursday at 6:30 pm and Sunday at 1 pm.
