The 5th Annual Fishing For A Cure Derby takes place this Saturday morning beginning at 9am.  Organizer Shawn Scott has organized the derby since the start and this year, he is commemorating the life and struggle of little Noah Borgogelli, who was just four when he passed earlier this year from acute myeloid leukemia after battling the disease since he was only 6-months of age.

KiSS Morning Co-Host Gary Beech spoke with Shawn about how the event started.

Scott says there are “thousands of dollars” worth of prizes available including rods and reels, tackle boxes, gift certificates and a hot tub rental. Tickets are ONLY $40 (per hole) for the event and you can pick them up at Rammakos in the South End,  Moxy’s Bait & Tackle in Lively and Pro Bait & Tackle on the Kingsway

The horn blows at 9 a.m. at the main boat launch and contestants can fish the entire lake (volunteers will only drill holes in the area near the boat launch). If you have questions, please contact Shawn at 705-562-0397.
