It’s going to be a cheat weekend as Downtown Sudbury’s annual Ribfest fires up the grill in just a few days.

The 10th annual meat convention put on by Downtown Sudbury will run Labour Day weekend with six rib vendors.

Downtown Sudbury BIA Executive Director, Maureen Luoma says since the event began in 2008 it has grown into a destination event helping not only the downtown but community as a whole.

Luoma says she is always asked, what is new this year, and she says it’s hard to answer because the event has been the same for years because it works.

There will be 26 musical acts, 25 are local, there will be a classic car show and family entertainment, and if people aren’t a fan of ribs or meat in general there are plenty of local cafe’s and restaurants to cater those who want to come for the entertainment.

Ribfest goes Friday September 1st to Monday September 4th and most of Elgin Street will be closed beginning Thursday as the ribbers set up shop.
