Sudbury’s Population will decline by 18 percent by 2041…according to a report called Northern Projections: Human Capital Series.

Authors, James Cuddy and Bakhtiar Moazzami believe the supply of labour will also fall over the coming years.

They are saying Indigenous populations will be opposite with a rise in population of more than 500 people in that same time span.

The report shows as of 2015 the area attracted 3.9 immigrants per 10 thousand people compared to 64.8 in Ontario.

The two authors are recommending better response to needs of indigenous populations and greater investment in newcomer and Francophones in the area for Greater Sudbury’s long term sustainability.
