After taking a three year break, the Despatie Maple Sugar Bush is back carrying on a tradition that spans over 100 years in Greater Sudbury.

Owner, Richard Despatie says it was a late start but it’s looking like it will be a great season for Maple Syrup.

He says you know what you’re getting from the local syrup, they don’t add anything to the process, except a little hard work.

We asked the expert what it goes best on and he said his top choice is pancakes, but he puts it on anything like ice cream and says it makes one heck of a lemonade.

Despatie took a three year break but is back at it again saying he wanted to carry on a family legacy that began with his grandfather in 1914.

The Maple Bush is located on the East side of Dominion Drive in Hanmer and will be open for just three Sunday’s beginning on the 26th from 12:30 to 5:30 and open during the week for group visits.
