Municipal Road 80 Speed Change Will Wait

Two petitions want vastly different results, but both speak to the speed limit on Municipal Road 80.

One petition from Valley residents with 37 signatures wants the speed limit reduced from 80 km per hour to 60 from Yorkshire Drive to the Hanmer mall.

Another petition with over 150 signatures says to leave it.

City staff recommended that the city reduce the speed limit from Yorkshire Drive to St. Mary Boulevard to 70 km/h and to 60 on Municipal Road 80,south of Yorkshire Drive.

The decision was put off until the next Operations committee meeting, as the councillor who brought forward the first petition was not present.
