Beginning in February, WestJet will make it’s return to the Greater Sudbury Airport.

WestJet Encore will offer one daily round trip flight to Toronto, increasing that number to three flights by 2018.

VP of Sales and Distribution with WestJet, Lyell Farquharson says as Encore expanded, Sudbury became the right choice.

Greater Sudbury Airport CEO, Todd Tripp says it will give the customer more options and open doors for those passengers to fly across the world.

But Tripp hopes it also leads to more support and more people flying.

Tripp says this partnership took a lot of hard work from the airport staff including former CEO Bob Johnston and he says it was very competitive with other cities vying for the service.

WestJet had previously flown direct from Sudbury to Hamilton from 2001 to 2004.
