SUMMER-HEAT-WAVE-THERMOMETER-1

By: Nick Liard

Summer has come and gone and some may say rather quickly, but as we enter the fall season let’s reminisce about the summer that was.

Senior Climatologist at Environment Canada, David Phillips says it wasn’t the warmest overall summer on record but it was one of the hottest August and September’s in the last 50 years.

Phillips says there was 12 days above 30 degrees without the humidex which was more than the previous three summers combined.

In Toronto they had 38 days above 30 degrees breaking records that go back over 75 years.

It was a summer that gave the Sudbury area plenty of days for fishing, golf, or as Phillips calls them, beer drinking days.
