It’s more than just a few slides as the city’s Finance and Administrative Committee heard just what needs to be done to bring city parks up to standard.

Sudbury has 189 parks and of those 58 are in poor condition.

Ward 5 Councillor Robert Kirwan believes this is a chance to do something special by taking a lot at how to improve all of those parks and bring them up to the same standard.

The positive news is a recent report states there are more parks in the city than required by the province based on population.

Ward 4 Councillor Evelyn Dutrisac believes each area of the city should have a say and if a park isn’t needed, maybe it should be looked at to be turned into a seniors park.

A report on how the city park problem can be addressed is expected in the coming months, but it’s estimated that it would cost over 2.3 million dollars to upgrade all 58.
