A somber reminder of the effects of drinking and driving.

It was on Father’s Day, June 21st, 2009, that Caitlin Jelley, Jazmine Houle and Steven Philippe were killed by an drunk driver while they walking along Municipal Road 80.

To mark the event, the 5th annual memorial walk was held last night that included a rally and then a march to the site where the kids were killed.

Following the tragedy, the families formed Impact 6/21, a group that honours the memories of the teens and works to get the message out to the community about the dangers of drinking and driving.

Every June is now proclaimed Impact 6/21 memorial month in Greater Sudbury.
