Lorde honored the late & legendary David Bowie at last night’s BRIT Awards with an epic rendition of his 1971 classic “Life on Mars” from the “Hunky Dory” album. Performing with Bowie’s backing band, he would have been proud, as he once praised Lorde for creating music that “felt like listening to tomorrow”.

The surprise performance was the highlight of the show, but before it started, Lorde, Annie Lennox and Gary Oldman talked about how much Bowie meant to them, and the world.

Lennox said, “I suspect that everyone is trying to process this event. Even if they didn’t know him personally, many people feel like things will never be the same again. For me, it’s almost impossible to mention Bowie’s name in the past tense. Everything he represented as an artist will always be vital and incredibly present.”

David Bowie was honoured by the BRIT Awards with the Icon Award posthumously.

When Lady Gaga performed a tribute to Bowie at the Grammy awards, Bowie’s son Duncan Jones didn’t seem too impressed. But, last night’s Brits performance of Life on Mars, by Lorde and Bowie’s backing band really hit home for Jones as he tweeted that the performance was “just … beautiful. Thank you.”

Duncan’s approval must have been a relief to Bowie’s keyboard player, Mike Garson, who replied: “Thank you Duncan. So glad you enjoyed it. that means a lot to the band.”

While accepting an award for Best Solo Female Performance, Adele delivers an epic acceptance speech. The best part? The last thing she says before walking off stage. Adele took a moment to acknowledge fellow singer Kesha, who must work in the same building as the man who she claims sexually and mentally abused her..

Meanwhile, Kesha released a Facebook statement yesterday, explaining why she filed the lawsuit against her alleged “abuser” Dr. Luke.

“All I ever wanted was to be able to make music without being afraid, scared, or abused. This case has never been about a renegotiation of my record contract–it was never about getting a bigger, or a better deal. This is about being free from my abuser. I would be willing to work with Sony if they do the right thing and break all ties that bind me to my abuser.” Kesha went on to say that she is discouraged because, “I don’t think that my case is giving people who have been abused confidence that they can speak out, and that’s a problem.”

Video has emerged of Kanye West calling out Amber Rose and Taylor Swift during his Tuesday night appearance at L.A. nightclub 1OAK. The rapper first addressed Rose’s claims about their bedroom antics. “She ain’t never stick her fingers in my a**,” he screamed. “I don’t play like that.” Kanye then claimed that Taylor Swift did indeed know about his song “Famous” before its release. “”She ain’t cool no more. She had two seconds to be cool and she f**ked it up,” he declared. Kanye also took to Twitter yesterday to shut down concerns about his mental health. “I’m not crazy. I’m free,” he wrote. He then accused the organizers of the Grammy Awards of being racist. Sadly, Recording Academy president Neil Portnow rewarded Kaney’s bad behavior by agreeing to meet with him.
