As of May 2019, Laurentian University will no longer have a campus in Barrie.

The decision comes on the heels of the provinces decision to reject a proposal for a LU stand alone campus in the city.

The almost 700 current students will finish out their programs while 23 full time staff members will be offered positions in Sudbury.

As of May 2017 the Arts and Management programs will end with the Social Work programs ending in 2019.

Laurentian has been holding programs at Georgian College since 2001.
