Anyone who has recently-recalled salad products in their fridge should either throw them out or take them back to the grocery store.

That’s the advice from the Sudbury & District Health Unit after a massive recall by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, of Dole Fresh Vegetables Inc. packaged salads and associated products.

Manager of Environmental Protections, Cynthia Peacock-Rocca says local health inspectors have been working hard since the warning came out Friday.

They’ve contacted local grocery stores, long-term care homes and day care centers to make sure no recalled salad products were consumed.

The salads have been connected with a listeria outbreak in the U-S and other illnesses in Canada.

Peacock-Rocca says no cases have surfaced in Sudbury, but anyone exhibiting symptoms should seek media attention.

Symptoms of listeriosis include: vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headaches and/or neck stiffness.
