Greater Sudbury Police say there have been too many vehicle pedestrian collision…so they’re stepping up enforcement.

The Traffic Management Unit has established a call-in tip-line so the public can report poor driving behaviour.

Callers will need to give information like location and time of an incident, a license plate number, and/or vehicle or driver descriptions.

As well, pedestrians will be ticketed or warned if they put themselves or motorists at risk when crossing roadways.

Plus as an extra added incentive, if police officers notice pedestrians crossing safely, they’ll hand out a positive ticket in the form of a Tim Horton’s gift card.

Police say pedestrian safety is a shared responsibility between drivers and those walking.

Over 2015, there were 62 vehicle-pedestrian collision in the city…71 the year before that.

The Tip-Line is 7-5-675-9171, Ext 2451, and messages will be checked daily.
