JUSTIN BIEBER IS SPREADING HOLIDAY CHEER

The singer is urging his British Twitter fans to buy a charity single from Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir, instead of his single, “Love Yourself,” so that they can dethrone him from the top of the charts in the UK. Bieber’s record has been number one in the UK for the past two weeks and is set to be the number one record for Christmas 2015.

On Wednesday (December 23rd), Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun tweeted the singer and Ed Sheeran — who wrote the record, and said, “Hmm…time to do the right thing boys. #giveback” Bieber then said, “I’m hearing this UK Christmas race is close…but the @Choir_NHS single is for charity. So for 1 week it’s okay not to be #1. Let’s do the right thing and help them out.”

BEATLES ARE STREAMING

Yesterday, it was announced that the Beatles’ catalog would become available on music streaming services. Tonight, that promise has been fulfilled and the Fab Four’s catalog is now accessible for listening on the following nine services: Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, Google Play, Microsoft Groove, Amazon Prime, Rhapsody, and Slacker.

The back catalog will not be exclusive to paying subscribers, meaning “freemium” users (on sites such as Spotify and Deezer) will have access too. This isn’t the first time the band’s music has been late to digitally adapt: They didn’t become available in the iTunes store until 2010.

ANIMAL ABUSE AT A CANADIAN ZOO?

PETA is up in arms over celebrity animal trainer Michael Hackenberger seemingly abusing a tiger in a video that made the rounds online on Wednesday (December 23rd.)

The video obtained by TMZ shows Michael, who is also the director of Bowmanville Zoo (near Oshawa Ontario) appearing to whip the animal about 20 times. He can also be heard saying at one point that PETA would burn down his training facility if they caught wind of how he trains his animals. The trainer is denying that there was any kind of abuse and claims he was actually just hitting the ground with his whip despite him admitting on camera that he likes to hit them in the face.

According to TMZ, he has responded to the backlash by alleging that the animal rights group edited the footage to make the situation look worse than it is. Hackenberger’s film credits include Life of Pi, The Interview, and George of the Jungle.
