Coaches Corner hosts & Hockey Night in Canada icons Don Cherry and Ron MacLean will share a star on Canada’s Walk Of Fame. Cherry and MacLean have provided entertainment for hardcore hockey fans for 31 years together and are among the seven new inductees added to Canada’s Walk of Fame this past weekend in Toronto. Other inductees include Michael Buble, three-time Olympic medallist Silken Laumann, award-winning author Lawrence Hill, actress Wendy Crewson, and late  actor Lorne Greene. Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes received a special award: the Allan Slaight honour which is presented each year to a young Canadian who is making a positive impact in the music industry. The award comes with a $10,000 honorarium and was presented during the gala. The show will be hosted by Jason Priestly and will broadcast on TV  December 17th


Meanwhile, The Toronto Maple Leafs honored Syl Apps who passed away at the age of 83 in 1988. They also honoured The Chief George Armstrong who is 85. How did they pay their respects? With bronze Legends Row statues of George Armstrong and Syl Apps at the Air Canada Centre on Sunday. Armstrong and Apps are the sixth and seventh members to join the the Maple Leafs’ shrine, joining Ted Kennedy, Johnny Bower, Darryl Sittler, Borje Salming, and Mats Sundin. “Armstrong spent 21 seasons with the Maple Leafs, serving as captain for 13 of them.” “He was a member of four Stanley Cup champion teams with the Leafs. He finished his career with 296 goals and 713 points in 1,188 games. The late Syl Apps won the Calder Trophy as a rookie with the Maple Leafs in 1936-37.
