Sudbury O-P-P have charged a Wahnapitae truck driver and the Quebec company he works for, after a traffic incident along Highway 144 in Levack.

On September 23rd a trailer loaded with explosives and detonators, detached from the cab portion of the truck.

It slid across the roadway and into the southbound lanes, near the railway crossing at Municipal Road 8.

The 48-year-old truck (Roger Rozon) driver faces eight charges, including failing to maintain his daily log-book, failing to inspect the vehicle, driving a vehicle with a defect, and having an insecure load, among other things.

The company, Les Services Jag Inc, from Sainte-Croix, Quebec, faces two charges: Failing to ensure performance standards are met and failing to comply with federal safety standards.

Both the driver and reps for the company are scheduled to appear in Sudbury court November 16th.
