It’s the last long weekend before winter arrives and many people will be on the road travelling to visit family and friends.

That means police all across Canada will have extra manpower to make sure drivers are following rules.

During Operation Impact, officers will be focusing on the “Big Four”: impaired, distracted and agressive driving, as well as seat-belt use.

Greater Sudbury Police have divided the weekend up to focus their patrols on each of the behaviours, corresponding to a particular day.

RIDE checks will be set up across the city today, tomorrow enforcement will be on distracted driving, Sunday will see officers watching for seatbelt use and finally Monday’s focus will be aggressive driving behaviour.

Police remind everyone who may be travelling: there will be extra traffic so be patient and give yourself extra time.
