Sudbury will be featured in a national reality television program next week when the eight remaining teams from Amazing Race Canada visit our city.

The episode was shot this past spring and will air Wednesday August 12th at 9pm on CTV.

Mayor Brian Bigger is thrilled with the national coverage Sudbury will get and believes it will increase tourism and showcase what we offer.

He says he doesn’t know where the contestants went or what they did while they were here.

But Mayor Bigger is extremely excited to see our city featured on the show and feels it will help change some preconceived ideas outsiders have about Sudbury.

Manager of Tourism and Culture, Meredith Armstrong, hopes everyone in the city will watch.

The city will be holding a family viewing party on the grounds of Science North next Wednesday night with free popcorn and drinks.

Armstrong encourages everyone to tweet or Facebook using the hashtag #AmazingRaceSudbury.

She says the city’s Economic Development team, together with Ontario Tourism, Tourism Northern Ontario pitched the idea to CTV.

The Amazing Race Canada is the most watched Canadian television series on CTV and is their number one program of the summer.
