Greater Sudbury Tops Organ Donor Registration Rates At Gift Of Life

It seems Northern Ontario, and Greater Sudbury in particular, is showing the rest of the province how important organ and tissue donation is.

The Trillium Gift of Life Network recently updated its stats on how many registered organ donors there are.

Across the province, 27% of the population is registered at beadonor.ca.

That’s a 2% increase over last year’s figures.

But, when it comes to individual communities Greater Sudbury is blowing everyone else away.

Lively, Garson, Val Caron and Hanmer are the top four with between 53% and 55% of their respective populations registering consent.

Sudbury is at 48%.

In fact all of the communities in the top 10 are found in Northern Ontario, with the exception of Parry Sound.
