Almost $600,000 in funding was distributed to 44 local arts and culture groups this week.

The money is from the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation to help stimulate growth within the sector and to help attract and retain talent.

Fifteen groups are getting funding for operating grants, including the Sudbury Theatre Centre and Theatre du Nouvel Ontario.

Twenty-nine groups are getting grants for specific projects, like YES Theatre and the Sudbury Multicultural & Folk Arts Association.
