Conservation officers continue to monitor local waterways to watch for potential flooding.

A Flood Outlook was issued by Conservation Sudbury (also known as Nickel District Conservation Authority) yesterday for the entire watershed.

It will remain in effect until noon Wednesday (April 15).

The problem is the ground remains frozen, so the recent precipitation combined with melting snow pack, can’t be absorbed into the soil.

That means the extra water is flowing into local creeks and rivers, causing water levels and flows to rise.

The forecast is calling for more rain later this week, which could impact the spring runoff leading to potential flooding.

Residents, especially children, are warned to stay away from the slippery banks of creek or rivers.
