Health Care Rally in North Bay
Health Care Rally in North Bay

By Angela Gemmill

There was a big rally in North Bay this afternoon in front of Conservative M-P Jay Aspin’s office, for the national day of action.

Numerous supporters, including a bus-load from Sudbury, were at the event, which according to Vice President of CUPE Local 1623, Sharon Richer, was to save public health care.

Last year the Harper Conservatives killed the Health Accord with the provinces.

Richer says says this would all translate into $36-billion in cuts to the health care system over the next ten years.

Richer says if hospitals aren’t funded properly numerous problems could develop, likely leading to a collapse in the entire health care system.
