Puppies

Students at Laurentian University have had a busy week cuddling with puppies, making fudge, doing yoga and unwinding with meditation.

It’s all part of Mental Health Awareness Week, promoting mental health services and reducing the stigma.

Chloë Mirfield with LU’s Students’ General Association says there are counsellors available during the activities to engage students and provide information about mental health services available.

She says the committee plans interesting and engaging events to entice students to get involved in a way comfortable for them.

Mirfield says this age group has one of the highest rates of developing mental health issues.

For the past two years the Puppy Room has been the most popular event during the awareness week.
